K2.
Although the summit of Everest is at a higher altitude, K2 is a more difficult and dangerous climb, due in part to its more inclement weather.
K2 also became popularly known as the Savage Mountain after George Bell—a climber on the 1953 American expedition—told reporters, “It’s a savage mountain that tries to kill you.”
Trees, Enormous.
Many of these feature the Hyperion tree, discovered in 2006, which measures in at over 380 feet in height. The Lost Monarch is also well represented. The latter is unofficially the world’s largest Giant Redwood, at some 25.26 feet in diameter{!}, and 320 feet in height.
Update Feb 3, 2024: now included are a few shots of the “Big Kahuna“, whose diameter may exceed 27 feet.

Ants…and Antlions.
Yes, it’s all fun and whatnot for ants, until they cross paths with the Antlion. An extremely patient hunter, the antlion digs a spiralling hole, and waits. And waits. And Then: Whammo!
The French naturalist Jean-Henri Fabre wrote that “The Ant-lion makes a slanting funnel in the sand. Its victim, the Ant, slides down the slant and is then stoned, from the bottom of the funnel, by the hunter, who turns his neck into a catapult.”
The predatory actions of the larvae have attracted attention throughout history, and antlions have been mentioned in literature since classical times. {wikipedia}
